WestPointe Church - April 2024 - Day 1

Hola, today we started our youth mission trip at 4 in the morning by making our way to the Calgary Airport. We successfully made it through US customs and security. We landed safely in Houston, Texas, where we had a layover. Our next stop was Merida, Mexico. 

After landing, going through customs and security went well, and we all found our bags. Leaving the airport we were met by the hot Mexican air and two big passenger vans with Gary and Joanne waiting for us. Just as we were about to leave things got a little interesting! We weren't able to leave immediately as the Mexican authorities wanted to make sure our vehicles weren't for tourism. We prayed together in the vehicles and a short time later we found out that they gave us the green light and our trip started. Gary and Joanne treated us to some amazing tacos from a local place, El Pastora Tacos. After a long day of traveling we were taken to our hotel and briefed on how the week. We then went to bed.
