Dalhousie Community Church February 2024 - Day 1

Jax - We’re in Mexico!!  After a pretty long day of flights and layovers we made it. We arrived and went straight to Mexican food… TACOS. After a delicious dinner we headed back to the hotel for our first night. The first morning we headed off to breakfast and then to a church service. It was quite small but still great to worship God. The rest of the day consisted of walking around the market and slowly immersing ourselves into the culture. It was amazing looking at the architecture of the city and the history. Then we followed that with some lasagna and worked on preparing for the rest of the week.

Tony - We have arrived in Mexico and spent our first 24 hours here! The journey here was super smooth and we had very little disruption from our goal. Gary and Joanne have given us some incredible experiences already and we have been able to emerge within the culture. Today we attended a local church service and enjoyed the presence of God with fellow believers. Since it is Sunday and our ministry doesn’t start until tomorrow, we had the chance to visit the central market, the oldest church in North America, and a municipal art museum. We chatted with many locals on the streets and everyone is very friendly and gracious with us. Our evening consisted of preparing some training and techniques for ministry this coming week. We are working incredibly well together and praising God for the stamina he is giving us. We’re ready to get to work tomorrow!

Max - ¡¡¿No snow!!¿ The trip in my opinion was very fun after not being able to leave the country for a decent amount of years. Already during the layovers we have connected so much more - imagine what more Mexico has in store for us. When we arrived in the first hour, we met Gary and Joanne, who are our C Quest organizers. They have so much knowledge of Mexico. The food is way better than the “Mexican food” that we usually have in Canada. Mexican made Tacos with Mexican meat and tortillas. The next day we walked two blocks in 37 degrees to church . The church we went to was in English, and there we met another missionary group from Florida. After the service we had a fabulous lunch, and went to see the giant cathedrals. We saw and learned a bit about Catholicism and then went over to the markets. That evening we began to prepare for our mission for tomorrow. We learned how to make balloons animals - swords, snakes, and bunnies.
