Millar College of the Bible Mission Trip

Day 4 in Progreso, Mexico! What an amazing day! The team started off the morning with Mike sharing a devotion. He talked about how the ultimate sacrifice was Jesus dying on the cross, and how it was also the ultimate display of love. From this example we know that sacrifice and love walk hand in hand. What a great reminder as we serve the wonderful people of Mexico and pour out God’s love on them!

After breakfast and clean-up, the team headed to a near-by basketball court. We made friends with some kids and ended up playing soccer with them for the remainder of the morning in the crazy heat of the day! Though there was a language barrier, it was so neat to see how soccer (or football, as they call it) bridged the gap and allowed us to bond with these precious kids. I love that God has given us the ability to play sports and to use that as a ministry in building relationships!

In the afternoon we took some greatly needed down time. Some of us went for a swim, caught up on some sleep, and had some much needed personal time with God. It is such an answer to prayer to see how God is bringing our team together in unity every day and for the friendships that we are building, all for the glory of Christ!

This evening we performed our program for the first time! The program was titled ‘Choices,’ and through songs, illusions, drimes, puppets, drama, and chalk art the message of the Gospel is given. Gary, Joanne, and their partners have done such an amazing job of putting this program together and organizing our crazy team to perform it. I don’t think any of our team members quite knew what to expect, but the evening was definitely an answer to prayer! There was such an amazing turnout, so please pray that the message we presented impacted the children’s lives, as well as the lives of the parents.

Even with language barrier again, while interacting with the children and adults during our post-program, we were able to communicate through face-painting, balloon sculpting, and even with a genuine smile and ‘hola’. God allowed us to show, without words, that we deeply loved and cared for them. Personally, God gave me such a deep love for the children that words can’t describe the feeling of that love overflowing in my heart. That is such an answer to prayer, as we asked God to give us His love for the wonderful people of Mexico we come into contact with, and a deep desire to see them come to know Christ as their personal Savior.

Overall, the day was an answer to prayer. I don’t know how else to describe it. God is working in our hearts as a team, and I am so blessed to be able to witness each member push themselves to their limits and grow into such amazing people of God. He has been so good to us. I cannot wait for the days ahead! Please continue to pray; it is so powerful. Pray that God would use the program and all of our other ministry opportunities to bring people to salvation, to rely on Him for our daily strength, and to ultimately bring glory to His name through all that we do. Thank you!
