Bethany Mexico Mission Trip update - Day 1

During our long travel day to C-Quest, we experienced only a few bumps in the road as 5 team members got a red light at the airport in Cancun leading to an extended chat with customs. Once we got out of the airport and connected with Gary and Joanne, it was smooth sailing. Our first full day was spent in ministry preparation - practicing puppets, the drime (drama/pantomime to a song),chalk art, drama and action songs. We also spent time organizing the donations we brought along in the humanitarian bags. The afternoon was spent being immersed in the culture as we were set loose on "downtown" Progreso. Our treasure hunt took us to interesting places and tested our ability to communicate with the local people... Edith and Daniel (our Mexican team members) were not allowed to help us out. I was struck by the friendliness of everyone we met and their graciousness as we struggled to make ourselves understood. It was awesome to watch our team today as everyone embraced the training wholeheartedly. God's spirit was evident in the smiles, the laughter, and the unity. A few of us are struggling to get acclimated to the heat and humidity. But aside from that all is well. There is a cool breeze blowing through the patio, as we wind down the day enjoying a time of worship and visiting - a fitting end to a busy day. Hasta la proxima (till the next time), Carmen for the Team
