Millar College of the Bible Mission Trip

Day 14! Today marked the halfway point of our time here in Mexico. It feels like we just got here. Yet thinking back, there is so much we have been able to accomplish during our time so far.

Today we finished our home makeover on Pastor Miguel and Alicia's house. It has been such a blessing to be able to serve them in this way. They are a couple who continually pour out the love and care they have into others’ lives, without expecting anything in return. It was such a blessing to give back to them a little bit! Most of the people in Mexico live in very modest homes, so to be able to improve Miguel and Alicia's home was such a privilege. The whole two days we were there, Alicia kept thanking God and thanking us for the work being done on her home. I loved having the opportunity to pour God's love back on them!

Painting the house was a much more tedious job than we had anticipated, but all the team members had a good attitude about it and enjoyed the task. We finished the painting with a lot of laughter and used up the paint to the very last drop! It was a long and hot couple of days of work, yet I never heard anyone complain. We could feel and hear the joy of the Lord among us as we joked with each other, and we had a lot of fun working as a team! It is such a blessing to be a part of a team that works so well together, continuing to grow in unity with each other and Christ each day! This team is great to work with, and I am so excited to see what else God has in store for us during the rest of our time here.

I know that this house will be used as God's house. At supper Gary told us that earlier this year they bought Alicia a new washer and a new stove through a donation from a previous team. Alicia loves to cook and have people over for meals, but her old stove had only one working element. So, for her to have a new stove with multiple working elements, will be something she gets a lot of use out of! Alicia made lunch for us both days, so you can ask anyone on our team how great of a cook she is! I am so excited to work with Miguel and Alicia more during our trip; they really are such wonderful servants of God.

As we continue in Mexico, please pray that we will rely on God for energy, strength, and health. Pray also for those who we have yet to come in contact with – that we would be able to share God's love with them. Also, please pray that we will continue to grow more comfortable in our limited Spanish, and that we will continue to try talking to those around us.
