Westpointe Community Church Mission Trip
Today was our second day in Progresso and it was quite the day. We started our day, as per usual, with a devotional. What’s the day worth if you don't start it with God? The overall message was, “God is enough” and we need to be okay with that.
After breakfast we practiced our program. The songs were so cool. I love them just because they praise God so awesomely. Next we had drama practice, which centered on Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector that changed his ways, thanks to Jesus Christ. Then we worked on a drime featuring very powerful imagery showing how Jesus was crucified for us. It was so powerful, I think I wept a single tear.
Later we broke into groups to learn our pieces for the puppet show and chalk art. Pastor Jared had to learn his illusion. All very cool stuff. The dress rehearsal went smoothly. Everyone did well, especially Wyatt Wiley in the puppet show, doing a great job of following the Spanish translation and his cues.
Speaking of cool stuff, yesterday we went to downtown Progreso to do a scavenger hunt. During this activity we had the privilege of interacting with the locals. It was very cool and scorching hot. Since being here, I am learning to appreciate my hometown, because it’s not as hot, nor as busy as downtown Progreso.
We also did balloon sculpting. If there were awards for the best balloon sculptor, Gary would be the champ and have a full trophy case. It’s was so awesome to see God working through us today and preparing us for tomorrow’s ministry. The training wheels have come off and tomorrow we get down to serving…can’t wait!
